Project Overview
This project explored the typeface Rockwell and its history, as well as some notable aspects of the lettering. This small coffee-table book was 6.5" x 6.5", making it a perfect addition to a designer's office. This specific project really emphasized designing spreads and page layout, and I found myself quite content with the results.
The Process
I designed geometric spreads to further develop my skills with hierarchy, specifically seeking to develop typographic and image integration. I incorporated subtle, oversized letterforms into the background to reflect the clean, structured nature of the typography. I began by selecting a typeface that's always drawn me to itself, then dove into researching the typeface and its history.
From there, I developed the copy for the book, then sketched out some possibilities for page spreads. Once I had found a strong direction for the layout and hierarchy, I then designed the book in InDesign. After a round of revisions, I felt that I had created a strong piece, and wanted to exemplify it here!
